This book is the account of a young 21-year old Michigan girl who enlisted with the Red Cross and flew to Louisiana to work on the frontlines of the Hurricane Katrina Operation. She fluently spoke several languages and was instrumental in communicating with the survivors in the disaster recovery efforts, even risking her life multiple times to save others. She was robbed, attacked by fire ants, dealt with a bomb threat, hostile aggressors, witnessed horrors never afore-mentioned and much more. This is a day-to-day detailed memoir of those hectic days and all that she encountered in the devastating hurricane aftermath. It is a tribute to the courage and resilience of a young person making a difference in the world. This diary offers the hope that you too will be inspired, make a difference, and help someone else today.
"Happiness is gratitude for all things present."
"I hope the following pages will touch your heart in a way that will inspire and encourage you to follow your dreams and do whatever it takes to make them a reality in your own life." -Ivy Stone

Part educational and part inspirational, Katrina Diary is a ground zero look at the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Probably the most impressive thing about this book is how Ivy makes you feel like you're there. From tense moment to tense moment, you get to see the relief program in action from Ivy's eyes. She also does a great job using pictures throughout the book to also help you visualize the destruction and the issues the survivors had to deal with in the aftermath of the hurricane.Product details

Katrina Diary What They Never Told You About Hurricane Katrina eBook Ivy Stone Reviews
No doubt, the author has a graceful way of describing a scene, and at first I was truly anticipating the story. But it soon felt more like yet another "Here I am to save the day" type of retelling with subtle but clear criticism of the droves of volunteers and leaders with decades more experience. At that point, it becomes difficult to maintain an emotional attachment to the real story that could have been eloquently told by such a talented wordsmith. I may pick it up again one day to give it another chance, but for now, I'm disappointed.
